RECORDING HIGLIGHTS:

Recently the FCC announced its “Broadband Action Agenda” for implementing recommendations in its long-awaited National Broadband Plan. Overall, the FCC is planning over 60 rulemakings, Notices of Inquiry and other proceedings in 2010 and beyond. Implicit in the FCC’s agenda is the likely reclassification of broadband services as telecommunications. Other changes in policies and regulatory approaches include the Universal Service Fund (USF) transition, intercarrier compensation overhaul, and creation of opportunities for broadband access and adoption.

In this 90-minute webinar, telecom experts Jonathan Marashlian and Michael Donahue will detail how the FCC’s aggressive agenda will alter the regulatory landscape for communications and Internet service providers for generations to come.

Program Highlights:

  • What effect will the FCC Broadband Action Agenda have?
  • What problems do the proposed regulations purport to solve?
  • What is the timeline for implementation—and what has to be done immediately, one year from now, and two to six years from now?
  • What approach is the FCC taking to the USF? What may be done to it?
  • What is the impact of the recent Comcast v. FCCcourt ruling?
  • What are the specific obstacles for implementation of the broadband plan, and what are the possible opportunities for municipalities and competitive service providers?
